About Us

Though growing up in what seems like opposite ends of the world (Jens is from Alaska, while I’m a native Texan) we met at Seattle Pacific University in the Theatre department during my freshman and Jens’ sophomore year.  During the first quarter we were cast in a fellow student’s directing project, “Words, Words, Words”...as monkeys.  Within days of meeting, we were dancing around together in beanies and tutus.  Obviously a prime opportunity for a courting relationship ...By the second quarter, we were dating and have never looked back since.

We were married in Leavenworth, Washington on June 16, 2001 at Mt. Springs Lodge - the beautiful home of my sophomore roommate.  Despite forecasts of thunderstorms throughout the weekend, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky the entire time we were there - which is good, because it was an outdoor wedding and we didn’t actually have a “plan B”.  God graced us with a perfect wedding present in the weather.

We moved to Texas in the summer of 2003 and have been residing here ever since. In August 2007, we purchased a new house, with plenty of room to grow. We were fortunate enough to find a great house, while remaining in close proximity to my family and our church.

Jens is working at a small but very successful software development firm. As a Marketing Manager, his days are filled to the brim with … managing … marketing … stuff. Actually, I don’t really know what he does all day but I know he’s very busy and he loves it. Best of all, he works entirely out of our home, so I get to see him a lot every day.  He’s currently pursuing his masters degree in marketing, so when he’s not working, he can often be found in his office doing homework.  Or beating his head against the wall.

Toward the end of 2007, I got laid off after 3.5 years at a direct marketing company. Since then I’ve been dabbling in web design and am working on several corporate sites, as well as doing some personal blog design on the side. This allows me to work from home as well, so we’re just one big happy band of homebodies. Surprisingly, we haven’t gotten sick of each other yet.  Occasionally I consider going back to school to actually learn how to do what I do for a living.  Oddly, my degree in Theatre doesn’t apply to web or graphic design overly much.  But truthfully, I don’t enjoy school and I have yet to convince myself that I have the determination (or time) to make it through again.

In October 2005, our family expanded to 3 and the beautiful and spirited Kaelin entered our lives. She talks nonstop (she gets that from her father) and certainly keeps us on our toes with her antics. For pictures (because I know that’s really why you’re here) check out the Pictures category in the blog, or the Photo Albums.

Our son Koren was born June 12, 2008 and we are adjusting to life with 2 kids.  So far it’s been a challenge, but wonderful.  He’s a sweet little guy and Kaelin is head over heels for her little brother.  She’s not the only one.

I think this is where I’m supposed to put a concluding paragraph.  But I’ve never been particularly good about concluding paragraphs, so I’ll just leave it at that.
